I wish to inform you that if you have left Dubai but had made a personal loan default then Dubai may start legal proceedings against you in Dubai. In this regard Dubai may issue arrest warrant which may be exercised in other GCC country. Moreover, many banks in Dubai are taking help of international collection agencies. Hence, if you are on work in other GCC country and it comes to the knowledge of law enforcement officials then you may be sent to Dubai from GCC country. Further, you may be imprisoned even if you pass through in transit through Dubai. On the other hand there is a bankruptcy law in Dubai called 'Hajr' in which the courts sell the property of the debtor and credit the proceeds to the creditors and close the debt.

I assume Dubai/UAE law prosecute and pursue only the defaulter himself or herself. I want to know if family members and relatives of the person are held responsible or harassed in any way? It does not seem likely, logical or legal but given what we hear in terms of horror stories of people locked up for months, I wonder.
