I have a debt collector calling me several times a day and now at work, They only identify themselves by there name and number. Not who they are from. On one occasion, they did in a supposedly automated message to my voice mail as Nation wide credit. But all other times they do not state this.
I am reading conflicting things about what to do. Should I call them to tell them to stop calling me? One web site said I should not avoid them, but in a thread on this site, you said; "NEVER acknowledge to any collection agency if a debt is actually yours and NEVER speak with a collection agency on the phone. Get all communication in writing." Which should I do? I don't have a confirmed address to send them a letter to stop calling me at work and Nation wide is every where. How can I get them to stop calling me at work, and should I call them? |

Do you have caller I.D? You can input the phone number into any nationwide reverse lookup search.
You are also under no obligation to take their phone calls. Calling at work is considered harassment. Verbally telling them to stop calling you won't stop the phone calls. They must receive written communication that all attempts at verbal communication MUST cease. Is the item on your credit report? That is another good source of information on how to contact them in writing. Many people simply change their phone number. That may not be a viable option for you. But it's something to consider. Here is one address and phone number I found for Nationwide Credit Corporation: 5503 Cherokee Ave • Suite 100 • Alexandria • Virginia • 22312 • 703-642-7500 Check all of these numbers listed below and compare them to the number they are calling from. Phone: Main Number: 1-800-989-3402 or 703-642-7500 Department Specific Phone Numbers: Fairfax County Personal Property Tax Number: 1-800-481-2651 or 703-813-1426 Pentagon Federal Credit Union: 1-800-882-7271 Children's Hospital Account: 1-888-277-6151 or 703-813-1411 Medical Account: 1-800-651-3098 or 703-245-1921 Any Non-Medical Account: 1-866-806-2769 or 703-245-1922 Our Collection Hours of Operation are: 8:30am to 8:00pm - Monday and Tuesday 8:30am to 4:45pm - Wednesday through Friday 8:30am to 12:00pm - Saturdays Addresses: Physical Address: Nationwide Credit Corporation 5503 Cherokee Ave Suite 100 Alexandria, VA 22312 Mailing Address: Nationwide Credit Corporation PO Box 9156 Alexandria, VA 22304 I hope this helps. |
