judgement fom auto lawsuit

I reside in Florida and my Drivers License was revoke due financial obligation stemming from an auto accident
that step son had when he was 19yrs. old. He was faulted . He didn't pay so the other persons whose auto was total, their insurance came after me since he didn't complied. I never knew anything about the lawsuit until I went thru a DOT Check pointin NJ.I drive for a living.I co-signed for him to get a vehicle on his 17 th birth day,We put him on our insurance after he made 18 he felt that he didn't wanted to follow the rules in life and he should have to pay for anything. I cancelled the insurance to prevent him from driving not relizing that he had made a spare key . I was gone for a cou[ple of days out of town working and hegot into an accident. They came after me due to the fact that he never changed the auto over to his name when he made 18. how can I make responsible for his actions? Can the judgement be dismised in a bankruptcy ? He ins no longer living in the state he is in California. He left me in wb of finances due him not wanting to accept his responsability.

You could sue him I suppose. People don't take responsibility if nobody ever places it on their shoulders.
