Default How can Fight collection law suit in California from overseas? I am not a US citizen

I was living in California as a foreign student from 2000 to 2003 when I accumulated some credit card debts (about $6k). In 2003, I had to leave USA for my home country as my visa ran out and lack of suitable employment. I was unable to repay the debt due my financial insolvency and foreign currency transfer restrictions in my country. I was never aware of this law suit not until very recently. The case status has been in "PRE-TRIAL CALENDAR SWEEP, ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE CALENDAR OF JUN-20-2007, OFF CALENDAR, DISMISSAL OR JUDGMENT ON FILE AS TO ALL DEFENDANTS" since 2007 May. How can I deal with this law suit from overseas? Should I hire a lawyer from my residing country or California? Or should I just contact the plaintiff directly? Or I should just forget about it?

You can do any one of those things but if you plan to be back in the US at some point it is best to try to resolve it now.
