I thought if I registered someone might be able to answer my question:
Old Debts and marriage -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My fiance has a lot of old debts and a pending court case involving a vehicle accident where he is at fault. If we get married do all his debts go to me too? (We live in Minnesota, some debts are from California) Also, If the lawsuit happens after we get married will the judgement go to me. Can they take my house and cars? Even if the act happened before we are married? Is there some type of paper he can sign keeping his debts before we are married to himself similar to a prenump or do we just not get married? HELP |

You normally are not responsible for debts before marriage. Keep all of your assets separate going forward.
