Hayward, California.

I am an eighty year old senior, living on social security, medicare, medical, single, renting,
assisted by two of three credit cards which ceased to use as of 7/1/09.Due to some unfortunate happenings these last few months and no longer useing the assistance of credit cards. I now find that I am unable to meet my payment obligations and credit balances of approximately $14,000 dollars over three company cards. My asets to date is one 1992 cadillac that I now operate, one desk, one book case, one mattress and bed, two autos in storage ,inoperable by the D.M.V.
Need I say more! Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. At a maximum
upon a review of my fianancial status would be one hunred dollars over the three credit cards.I was current upon all payment through August.I have always tried to do the right thing and have always taken great pride in having good credit aand do not class myelf as a flake, however these things do happen.Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking You In advance,
H.D. James

Default Re: Credit card debt

This is why looking upon credit cards as a means of income is a bad idea. It is a loan that you must repay, just like any other loan. If a person cannot afford to repay, they should not use credit (loan) as a means of income. Credit cards are not financial assistance. They are loans that need to be paid back as agreed upon in the terms.

You either have to pay the money back or make arrangement with the credit card holders for a satisfactory payment arrangement, say, $20.00 per month. The issuer may suspend card privileges and close the account as a result.

Your only other option is to file bankruptcy, but that too, is expensive.
