Confused Old Debts and marriage

My fiance has a lot of old debts and a pending court case involving a vehicle accident where he is at fault. If we get married do all his debts go to me too? (We live in Minnesota, some debts are from California) Also, If the lawsuit happens after we get married will the judgement go to me. Can they take my house and cars? Even if the act happened before we are married? Is there some type of paper he can sign keeping his debts before we are married to himself similar to a prenump or do we just not get married? HELP

Normally no but you should keep all assets and accounts separate under those circumstances.

So if I have a house and we get married, and then he gets sued by this accident and he loses (which he will) they can't put a lein on my house even though we are married? What is the statute of limitations on an automobile accident? Would we be better off waiting until he gets sued to get married?

if you live or have lived in a community property state (Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin), you and your spouse in some cases may be responsible for debts incurred during the marriage, and the individual debts of one spouse may appear on the credit report of the other.
