Confused Re: garnishing wages for interest

That's what I want to know. Back in 1996 my husbands pay check got garnished. It took 3 years to pay off that debt. NOW there was interest that had occured through the years. Fast forward to 2009 they are leaving him alone and have now garnished my wages for interest. I also would like to know if they can do that?

Once the pay-off was made and they stopped garnishment they normally cannot take more again. You should have received a release saying all was paid.

Sue them in small claims if you think they are wrongfully taking more than was listed in the judgment.

Thank you for answering my question.
My husbands employer told him that it was all payed off and they would not be taking out anything any more and they didn't. Now years down the road I guess because I co signed for the car that was already payed off, they garnished my wages for the interest that had occured through the years. I think the interest is now like $6,000.00 dollars! For one thing that will never get payed off cos I think it still keeps occuring even if your paying. I think that I seriously need to contact the courts and find out what steps I can take. Thank you.
