Default Debt Collection and bank accts

I currently have debt with collection agencies. I understand that they can freeze your bank accts in order to collect the money. I am concerned mostly because my parents have banks accts which i am a signer on incase of an emergency. Can they also freeze those accts?

They can only freeze accounts after a court case...but if you are a signer they can go after those so best to have your name removed or keep limited cash on those accounts if you do end up in court.

Collection Agencies cannot freeze bank accounts. They are usually only good at abusive language on the phone (never speak to them on the phone) and more threatening letters allegedly at one of their "attorneys" (a Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violation).

Unless they sue you in court, they cannot touch your money. Never acknowledge a debt as yours to a collection agency.

A signer? Do you mean POA? They cannot touch your parent's bank accounts. They are the primary holders.
