Any opinions on this: You can letters from 5 different agencies saying your account has been purchased by a certain debt collection agency for collection . They have been authorized by their client to collect the outstanding amount owned to them. I looked up the agencies and to my surprise, they are all debt collection agencies & so is their client. All of the 5 different agencies/debt collectors have my balance different. This doesn't sound right to me.

No, it does not sound right. I have received something similar. If you call them they probably want to have you move your debt to them. I would call your true agency you have the debt with and ask if they sold.

Unless they have actually sent you a letter informing you of their intent to sue, ignore them.
Never speak with a collection agency via phone, never acknowledge to any collection agency the debt is yours, and never make any type of payment arrangement with them. Never, Never give out bank account or credit card information to any collection agency or anyone who claims to be an attorney working on behalf of a collection agency. You really need to consult with a Consumer Protection Attorney in your area. It is imperative that you do this. |

I will, I just read an article on this. They are debt buyers using a collection agency to try to collect. If the so called client is exactly the same, which it is , then it should mean they are debt buyers collecting for themselves, If that name is similar, but slightly different , which is only 1, it probably means the letter is from a collection agency arm of a debt buyer octopus. Did some homework and already knew they were all debt buyers. I looked them up and it had their license numbers. I never answered or acknowledged any of them.
