Had a loan with HSBC. HSBC had a collection agency (Creditors Interchange) try to collect on loan. Paid the collection agency on Dec 2008. According to the collection agency the payment was to be in full. Collection agency submitted payment to HSBC on Jan 2009. Did not receive any confirmation from either Creditor Interchange or HSBC. Mid June 2009 HSBC sent a statement saying we still owed $1,000. We requested an amortization schedule and found that the amount that HSBC forwarded to the collection agency did not include accrued interest to Dec 31, 2008. ??

Sorry about this and hope it works out. I would suggest sending dispute letters to the three major credit reporting agencies along with the creditor and the collection agency. They have duties to make the necessary corrections pursuant to federal law -- specifically the FDCPA and the FCRA. A good resource for further help is Federal Trade Commission. AJJ
