Angry Indian Giver

If someone owes another person a substantial amount of money; can that person’s family go after the individual that owes money to the person that passed away?

(Hope that makes sense)

I need to know; I am considering filing bankruptcy and want to make sure I have all grounds covered.

I also need to know if the family can come after me if I don’t file bankruptcy.

What protection do I have from him if he decides to pull something, or his family for that matter? Nothing was ever signed, and at no point did I ever verbally commit to repayment. Other than checks that were written to me there’s nothing to prove anything.

All along this jerk was helping me out he said very persistently that he never expected to be paid back.

Now he seems to think I owe him.

Default Re: Indian Giver

The estate can still pursue the debt just as if somebody is living--if that is what you mean--

...but unless a note is signed or something similar then any party would have to go to court and prove the debt if the other side disputes it.
