Confused Douglass Knight & Associates taking money but not from me!

I started paying off a debt due to a car accident a couple of years ago. Right now I have the debt down to about 7,500....I, for awhile, did not have an active bank account and was giving my roomate the cash to deposit in her account so I could pay over the phone. Recently I've obtained a bank account and have been paying from this bank account on the debt. The debt collector, made by their own admission, "a tiny human error" and took a bi-monthly payment of 100 dollars out of my roomates account, which I haven't used in about 6 months now. They accused me of fradulent behavior by telling me that I made it seem like her bank account was in fact my own. They have done nothing to right this "tiny human error" and I had to come up with the extra money to pay my roomate back. I was wondering if my roomate or I had any legal standing in this matter. Also I would like to know if I ask to reduce my monthly payment and they refuse then threaten to suspend my drivers liscence what if any leg I have to stand upon. Thanks for your help!

I also forgot to add that every time I used my roomate's account to make a payment my roomate had to be present and give her debit card information and authorization code to the operator..which they also denied!

Hi,
Funny you should say that about your license being suspended. I just started a battle with DK about 2 weeks ago. Same thing happened they sent the letter stating that i needed to pay 3500.00 to them on behave of The hartford company. I called them and talked to Brandie Jones about the amount that they were wanting. I told her that their number was high and try to explain what was going on and how it got there. She did not care one bit and told me that they were going after me for the full amount. I ask for and sent a letter requesting the copy of the paperwork. She said "Fine" and that if we did not pay it or if a judgement was issued that she would suspend my license until it was paid. Nobody but your state license branch as the right to take your license. I want and filed a complaint with my State Att. Gen. on her threats. Good Luck
