Should I let my car get repossessed?

I got a loan 1 year ago on a 2004 chevy trailblazer...my husband and I barely had any credit history at that time except school loans so our rate was sky high..18.25%. At that point we owned our own business and could afford the payments becuase money was good...well long story short my husband got hurt, we had to sell the business, and now have two babies to support on my check...Our payment is $485 a month. It is just getting out of hand, and there is no way we could sell it and get out of the loan becuase its not worth the amount we owe on it...I dont want to ask anyone to co-sign a new loan for us becuase I honestly don't want to put that burden on anyone else.
So i started researching what the hell to do, and this is what I came up with...If I let the car get repossessed ( I like to look at it as me giving them back the car), they will sell it at auction and then I will owe the difference. But this difference that I owe will now be considered Unsecured debt right?? So I could take that amount and add it together with my credit card debt and go to a credit counselor...
Tell me if I am being crazy or if there is some other option...
