Confused Online Payday Loans

I got a loan online for $200 about 4 months ago. Before I was able to pay the loan back I lost my job. They kept debiting my account for the money causing the total to reach $474. I also had a bunch of NSF charges from my bank which resulted in my account being closed. So then after the account was closed I never heard from the company again until yesterday. I received a call from a debt collector saying that I had until Friday to repay the $474 otherwise they would be taking me to court. I had called the company asking could I make weekly payments until the money was paid and they told me no it had to be paid in full and then I asked could I repay with my income taxes in January and they still told me no. My question is can they take me to court for an unpaid debt like this? I had taken one out a couple of years back and never repaid it on time and it just went onto my credit report which i ended up paying it off a couple months later. I live in Florida and was trying to research the matter online but did not know where to start.

I would check with the state you live in to see if they are in fact a licensed lender in your state. Chances are they are not. Tell them that you will file a complaint with your state which will fine them. If they are not licensed then they do not have a legal contract and therefore can't sue you. Call thier bluff. I did on one and the next day I received a document that wiped the debt clear in return for not reporting them to my home state.
