A friend co-signed for a van for a person. They didnt follow through with their payments so he let somebody else take over payments. Now they are paying enough to keep the company from repossessing but dont have insurance or driver's license. The friend is trying to get the van back but the law won't let him. They tell him that he needs some kind of papers to be signed by a judge before he can take it back.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

He can sue the car owner in small claims for any damages or costs. A court could even order the owner to sell if no other remedy exists to resolve the problem.
