No jail is possible,

and if you don't have any asset then collection will be difficult for them.

So don't be too worried.

HI well I have not got the debt collectors on my back.. well heres my story

I am from New Zealand
I was in the United Nations had an account from UNFCU New York, Ok I got sick last year here in Bangkok Thailand and spent quite a bit of time in hospital and used my visa and line of credit to pay all the bills etc plus recouperation. I owe the bank around 60.000 us dollars.
Ok I live in thailand and am teaching am sending the bank in good faith $150 dollars per month which works out to $170 dollars in bank charges. The say they will referer legal action to pay the debt. I dont have any collateral just getting around $1000 per month teaching leaving me with $850 then rent, food etc living costs. Once again I dont have a car house etc virtually whats in my bags is mine. I dont drink or smoke so not costs there either.
So what can the BANK DO? remember I am paying some money in good faith but I guess that is not enough

PPLEASE ADVISE IF YOUR A LAWYER OR JUST A CITIZEN THATS MAYBE BEEN THROUGH THIS

Thanks and god Bless you all

Anthony

Very unlikely they will pursue you in Thailand.

But your credit score will be reduced and they will try to take action when you return home.
