Can we put a lien on a house for a personnel debt?
My daughter and her husband have borrowed over $17,000.00 over the past year from my husand and me to help cover thier mortage and meet monthly bills. We trusted them to pay us back when thier house sold.
They are now splitting up. We are concerned that ou son-inlaw will not meet his end of the bargain. Is there a way that we can put a lien on the house to be sure that thier debt is paid to us through escrow? |

If he agrees you can place a lien on the house in the same way that a lender does. Local counsel can help make sure it is valid and binding for a nominal fee.
