Default Advice on dell trying to collect an invalid debt

Hi there i live in Washington and have an issue with Dell financial services trying to harass my mother-in-law who is over 80 yrs old into paying a debt that was a result of her identity being stolen

the case now lies with a law firm in california who called her and was reading information from her credit file how they obtained it is unknown and were asking questions as to other debts she has on her file then near the end of the call she was asked if she had any other family members who had defaulted or would need her help to get them out of a fix....

We have sent dell all the information requested including the crime reports and case numbers against the person who stole her identity and even a signed document certified by a notary public

is there any action we could take as this has had an extremely diverse effect on what was a perfect credit history until this issue with dell which has reduced her credit score by over 100 points or is there someone who can do this free until won?

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to your state attorney general's office. World Law lawyers could also become directly involved, though they normally do charge a fee for that.
