Default REPORTED TO CREDIT BUREAU

I do not know if I am posting in the correct place, but here is my question. I have a loan which I wanted to pay my monthly bill before it was 30-days past due. The 30 day mark would fall on a monday. I paid the bill over the phone on a Saturday. The representative told me that it would not be reported to the credit as being 30-days past due. Come to find out, she was incorrect. The company reported to my credit as being 30-days past due, they said that since I paid on Saturday it was not considered a banking day so the payment was applied as being received on the Monday (which was the 30th day). I want this taken off of my credit. If they won't take it off, can I sue them?

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to your state attorney general's office.

This is a very shady area. You would have to have a recording of the phone call to prove it was paid on a Saturday. But even at that, most companies, despite our 24 easy access world, will still post on the next business day. And credit card companies are notorious for using any excuse to drive up your interest rate.

I don't think there is really anything you can do about this one but suck it up and try to pay your bills on time. A good rule of thumb, especially for credit card bills, is to pay before the due date and pay your balance off in full each month.
