i was convicted of DUI along with possession of marijuana. when i went to court i didnt hire a lawyer. i had only had 3 beers but im still under 21 so i blew a .06. DUI was reduced to reckless driving and i still have the possession charge. i had my liscense suspended for six months. im a month away from getting my license and i HAD to cash a check at the bank for 1,500 dollars. i really just wanted to put the money in the bank so i could take some out and pay back a few friends, but my friends had classes. i took the chance and drove. got pulled over for expired tags...who knew? I was arrested for diving on a suspended license. my court date is march 6. do i need to hire a lawyer to avoid jail time for a probation violation. i need to focus on my school work and CAN NOT go to jail. who do i need to talk to? whats the best thing to do? thank you

Yes--Make sure you get legal counsel (or at least the public defender) to try to reduce this and/or keep this off your record eventually--jail time is probably avoidable if your record is otherwise clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision etc.
