Default shoplifting

I confessed to shoplifting about $40 worth of items from a grocery store. I have a clean record. I hired an attorney. Will I go to jail? I am so afraid. I can't go to jail. I cooperated.

Default Re: shoplifting

Make sure you keep your legal counsel to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is probably not likely if your record is very clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision etc.
