Cool Texas Antiquities Codes

What are the chances of my being arrested or fined if I use a metal detector on the beaches of Texas? The codes seem rather broad but do not specifically mention the use of a metal detector for pleasure.

Quite clearly, Antiquities Code of Texas Paragraph 191.002 Declaration of Public Policy states in part, "protect, preserve all ... historical, archeological (resources)... in, on, or under any of the land in the State of Texas...under the jurisdiction of the State of Texas.

Beaches in Texas are public lands; therefore an Antiquities Code of Texas permit is required to excavate and these are only issued to professional archaeologists who qualify as Principal Investigators.

Some beaches in Texas are federal parks and excavation (even related to metal detecting) is prohibited by the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979
