battery or no?
friend punched another guy while playing basketball. Other guy gave a complaint. Detective called my friend. what is the next step. is it battery or assault what is the punishment. where does he go from here.

Unless it was severe the police are not likely to pursue it frankly. But they will if any damage occurred.
