Default Community service not completed

Yet another neighbor has come to me for advice. Her son has refused to do any more community service. He has 50 hours left of 250 given. I've told her that he could end up in jail and he's claiming that since the jails here are so overcrowded he'll only have to serve on weekends. He's 21 and it's his first offense for public drunkenness and criminal mischief.

Am I right?

I wish to inform you that court can make the person liable for contempt of court and therefore person can be imprisoned. Violation of court order makes person liable for contempt of court. Further overcrowding of jail does not restrict court from taking action.

Yes, Maryellen, he well may be in for spending his weekends in jail. Or weeks/months if the judge is torqued off enough about his failing to complete the community service break the judge gave him.
