Being notified by the police about the crime

State: New Hampshire If the police are going to charge you with a crime do that have a certain time limit to do so? They have to notify you of the crime don't they? |

Police often investigate before arresting or bringing charges. There is no set length of time except the statute of limitations for the crime itself.
There are two crimes that have no statute of limitations; arson and homicide. Charges can be brought for these at any time, no matter how many decades later, the police believe they have enough evidence to charge. And, no, they do not need to tell someone they are investigating that person, that he or she is a "person of interest." |
