Re: WHAT IS THE PENALTY IN RECANTING A STATEMENT?
It seems that the penalty that can be imposed for recanting a statement is to charge you with a 4th degree offense .A 4th degree offense is a felony; however there is no presumption of incarceration for a first-time offender. You may be given with a diversion program which would prevent you from having a criminal record.
