Default Pursuing criminals: Can law enforcement track criminals in this way?

Hello, I was wondering about an issue pertaining to criminal apprehension. I am switching my major to Criminal Justice next fall and have a few questions that I can't find the answers to. When the police are trying to find a wanted criminal, for this question say a criminal that fled to another state. If the criminal is not registered with the DMV of that state, no license or no photo ID, then how does law enforcement proceed in trying to locate the criminal? What other resources can they use? Are law enforcement allowed to use SSN #'s say if the criminal in question got a job they have to use their SSN for tax reporting purposes, can law enforcement track criminals in this way? Or if they register to vote, can they then be tracked this way? Thank you for your time, I have an eager mind and away your response, thanks!

I wish to inform you that state may ask other government agencies regarding necessary records as are required in criminal investigations. In this regard in IRS may be requested to provide necessary details. Further Police may keep rewards and can take all necessary steps to contact persons having knowledge of the accused in knowing whereabouts of the criminals.

All states now cooperate much better than they use to.
Even credit card records, informants etc. can help track fugitives.

Of course. They can be tracked by any of the means you suggest. Criminals or suspected criminals can be tracked by any legal means necessary.
