Students threatened by other students, then also harassed by school faculty
Not sure this goes here... as my questions are a mix of criminal and civil concerns... but here goes...
I am an adult student attending a vocational / technical school in the state of Tennessee. Three months ago I reported an incident where a fellow student made comments about murdering himself and others while at school. Ever since then things have been pure hell. My questions: 1. Joking or not, is it legal in the state of Tennessee for an adult student at a Vocational / Technology Center to make comments of murdering themselves and their fellow classmates? The school doesn |

2. Is it legal for a school administration to refuse to take action against an individual that repeatedly demonstrates violent tendencies? This guy has repeatedly harassed people, up to and including revving the engine of his vehicle and lurching the vehicle at a fellow student as they walked across a parking lot to scare the crap out of her.

3. When a grievance settlement is reached to protect students concerned about their safety, it is legal for a school to nullify that settlement without notice, and then force a student to leave the school if they will not accept that action? I filed a grievance because the school refused to acknowledge my concerns and the faculty harassed me trying to make me to drop the matter. A settlement was reached, but just a few days ago the school decided to no longer honor the settlement... and gave me the option to get used to it or leave.

And last but not least... 4. What recourse do I have available to protect my rights?
At this point, I'm screwed... what do I do? |

Have you also filed with the police and have they investigated? They could override the school.

By the way--You may have been cut off if you were copying and pasting a question.
That can happen if your copy and paste contains symbols or characters other than letters or standard symbols. It will cut off at the point of the character that is causing a problem. You may eliminate quotation marks or nonstandard characters in your text and that should resolve the problem. |
