Can I get my freedom back? (Nova Scotia, Canada)

Was convicted wrongfully. First offence. Been on probation for 2 out of 3 years. Perfect behaviour. Will be on sex offender registry for 5 more years.

Has cost me much in the way of freedom, employment, trust, sanity and pretty much any other way you can expect.

Definitely want to shorten or remove the conviction and can prove my innocence. Lawyer suggested not to appeal since the sentence was pretty light. I had actually fainted as the conviction was read and didn't hear the judge's reasonings. Sad thing is that the appeal deadline has long since passed.

Is there still a way to get my life back after 2 years?

Do I have to live with my sentence anyway? If so, how would I go about getting my record expunged so I could finally go to another country and not have this hanging over me.
