Default Victim Question

If there is a case with no witnesses or evidence can the defendent be sentenced with only the victims account of the crime? This is a case of he say, she say. What is the liklihood of the defendant beating the case with only a victim and no evidence/witnesses?

A conviction can occur but usually some kind of other evidence is also needed. What is the dispute? What does the accuser say?

Could logic or common sense work?

Yes that is often a factor: what just seems more likely to have really happened based on common sense.
