Default Any help appreciated, Aggrevated burglary.

Im 19 years old and made the worst mistake of my life. About 6 weeks ago i had a car accident and broke my left hand leaving me unable to work for the next 8
weeks with no sick leave as im employed on a full time casual basis. Last week during a desperation for money some fools i used to consider my friends told me there was a way i could get some money fast. Now me being in a desperate state for cash to pay the bills was stupid enough to take them up on there deal. Now im caught up in a aggrevated burglary charge. i know i have no choice but to plea guilt as i was there but any advice that could help me not get a criminal record in australia? Thanks

They broke in to a school and stole some computers and they gave me one of which i could on sell for money. I didnt break in or anything but i was there. The police executed a search warrant on my house in which they found the computer from the school. Ive never had a record before and ive enrolled myself in financial counselling to help with my troubles.

Make sure you get legal counsel (or at least legal aid) to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is not likely if your record is clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record could make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision or even be dismissed etc. If it eventually appears it cannot be negotiated down, or you need to discuss this in more detail with senior counsel to review options etc., please let us know...

You can ask for a public defender still--or do you mean that was denied?

if a public defender is what i believe to be a duty lawyer which is a lawyer that turns up on the day of my case and fights it for me then yes that avenue is available however i really want fight the charge and hopefully not get a record.

Then you will have pay a lawyer ---borrow from family etc. if you have to, and hire a lawyer. You should be able to get a fixed fee quote for the project.
