Hello,
I have a situation where Someone very dear to me has been accused of grand larceny and possible drug charge. Here is the situation. He stole from a pharmacy where he was a pharmacy tech. The detective working for the pharmcy accused theft for 10,000. He called a law enforcement detective and I assume told him this. The detective( for metro police) is offering a plea where he wants my loved one to work for him as an informant then he will agree to ask to DA for a lesser sentence. It has been a month since the actual happening of the situation. Something doesn't seem right in the way that the detective still hasn't charged my loved one with a single charge! And is trying to force him to sell drugs in order to catch drug dealers. There has been no proof of evidence that something has been stolen. The detective has threatened to charge grand larceny of 10,000 or a drug charge of over .5gm of hydrocodone. Or both. The pharmacy has already asked for payment of 600$ and it has been paid. Our problem is should we not work for this detective? It sounds wrong and as if he doesn't have the evidence to present this case. Or should we just take our chances and take the charge? He has no record. And this charade has been lingering for the past month. Our lawyer( hasn't been a lawyer for very long) says that he risk 8yrs probation and 10,000 bond if we just decline the detectives offer. The detective hasn't told us what he is being charged with, or the plea, or anything! Just that we should work for him or be sorry. This is tearing me apart. Please help. Thank you for reading. |

You should not even consider that unless and until you have skilled senior legal counsel approving and assisting, and and advising you!
You need a senior lawyer for this situation not a newbie. |

So, no charges have been laid? Is there no statute of limitations? Second....If you have the money and concen to spend on a "hasn't been a lawyer for very long" guy, maybe you should spend a bit more on a "i have a clue" lawyer. Third....If you think that anyone with any sort of credibitly regarding the law and this situation is going to read and give you any advice here, these are the sort of responses you should expect. Hope it all works out for you! |

I agree 100% !! Don't use a new guy for a serious criminal law issue. |
