Default Attorney Fees

If a defendant waives his right to counsel and the court appoints stand by counsel. Can the state force the defendant to pay attorney fees?

They can unfortunately if they deem him able to pay fees. But he can refuse to accept counsel and do it himself--not normally recommended.

The case has concluded were the defendant represented himself and the court appointed stand by counsel. Sentence for the case had been served and fines paid in full. Now the state wants the defendant to pay the fees the standby counsel stated he occurred in the matter. The question is the defendant responsible for the standby counsel fees
