criminal sexual conduct - 2nd degree
A friend has been charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct regarding girlfriend's two teenage daughters. Has been arrested, charged with felony and has posted bond. Friend is innocent, is Hispanic (all else involved are white) and has not a lot of money for legal fees. Court date is set for three weeks out. What can he expect at this court date and what can he do to help clear his name? Is it a case of believing one or the other? How are his accusers prepared for court date? Is there questioning of the 13 and 15 year old girls? Will he be offered a plea bargain and should he take it? Does that mean a criminal record for him regardless of his innocence?

WORLDLawDirect - How a crime is prosecuted
If he takes a plea he will have that on his record for life. He really does need to hire private counsel if at all possible. |
