NYS Liquor Laws & Personal Consumption
My friends play volleyball at an outdoor court on a golf course. They generally grill outdoors and often bring a cooler with beer for personal consumption (not for sale of any kind) with them. They were recently informed that doing that violated NYS Liquor laws.
I am curious to know which part of the NYS liquor laws are violated by doing so? I tried reviewing the liquor laws online and did not find this anywhere. I am wondering if this is the golf course just trying to get people to go buy them from the course. |

Many if not most cities have local laws prohibiting open alcohol in public areas.
The state may have the same for parks and publicly open recreation areas. |
