Default Criminal Charges on a bad check?

In 2005, my boss forced me to write three bad checks to him personally, so that he could use these checks and post them to his account so that his account would show a positive amount. He knew that these checks could not be honored, and deposited the checks anyway. In addition the account was closed. He forced me to write "College Loan" as the memo heading on the check, so that nobody would question the checks at the bank. The next day, his bank account obviously declined the deposit of the checks and he received notification of that. His scam was to make his account look as if he had sufficient funds so that he could write a check from his account and as a result not get caught for a bad check.

6 months later we dissolved our relationship, and nothing was ever mentioned about the checks. Now in 2009 he has sent copies of the bad checks that were written on a closed account to the local police department, for which I received a phone call from the criminal investigations unit, asking for my side of the story regarding this incident.

What should my next step be?

Just dont tell them. I cant see how they are going to find out unless they do the same checks you did. And if they do then they arent very trusting of your judgement and would show them up as more than a bit controlling of you.

How exactly did he "force" you to do these things? Did he hold you prisoner? Torture you? Put a gun to your head and threaten your life?

Unless you are a prisoner, nobody can "force" you to do anything. People often misuse that term when they are too weak to say not to others and cannot accept the responsibility for their own actions.

It's not his fault you wrote the checks. It's yours.

If you wrote checks for fraudulent purposes, you can be charged. Claiming that anyone "forced' you to do this is weak. Own up.
