Writing to the judge

my bf is incarcerated and everyone is recommending that he writes to his sentencing judge, i heard this sometimes can make things worse, but the "jailhouse attorneys" tell him differant and tell him the judges take it into consideration when you explain that you take responsibilities for your actions..my bf is in trouble for an illegal perscription of narcotics, and he has been in treatment programs before, completed succesfully but he wants to let judge know he still needs help to adapte to society and stay away from those people, places, things, so is the writing a letter in his best interest?

I don't think that works much by itself cause the judge cannot read it by himself...all sides need to have a copy... but he can prepare something to give to the prosecutor and his defense counsel the next time there is any matter related to the case.


Is the trial over now...when is sentencing?

his preliminary is may 27th and his attorney is gonna try to get him out, but my boyfriend wants to write to the judge that is doing the revocation hearing which i think is sometime soon after the preliminary, so it's not a bad bad idea but just make sure he has a copy and give one to DA as well? thank you alot, this should clear his head a little, he justs wants the judge to see he wants help for his addiction..to where he can get counseling, but he is more scared of the DA..
