Confused travelling with criminal record

I am 20 years old and have a year old criminal record for discharging or misuse or mis-storage of a fire arm. (Its one of the three) I would like to travel to Mexico to go on a week all inclusive trip with my girlfriend, and was wondering if I would be able to with a criminal record. I have a passport but I don't know if i could make it over the boarder. Also what about travelling to the U.S. I would love to take my kids to Disney land. If anyone could offer me some advice and/or some websites to visit, I would greatly appreicate it!
