Urgent Need of Chicago Attorney

I am an Indian Citizen who entered USA legally on h1b1 visa on June 9,2000.

I have married a US citizen on Jan 12,2007 and received the marriage certificate yesterday.I would like to file for adjustment of status.

However I do not have my passport with me.It is with my employer in Fremont,CA state.They took it as collateral for the money I borrowed from them for emergency in India.I have already paid back all the monies due to them in 2004 and they are still holding my passport.They are blackmailing me now saying that I am an illegal alien and they will report me.By law they do not have any right to hold my passport as it is illegal.

The Vice President of the Company threatened one of my colleagues at gun point and grabbed the cashier checks I sent with him and ran away with the checks and he still has my Indian passport in his custody.

I want to file for adjustment of status as I am now married to a US citizen but I do not have the passport in my custody which I need for my immigration filing.

I will appreciate if any good criminal as well as immigration attorneyfrom Chicago advise me in this matter at the earliest .I reside in Chicago.
