Harassment?
I live in the UK, Scotland. I'm 17, my boyfriend is 20 and lives with us (us being my family - me, mum, dad, brother and dog). The other guy is 18, lives with his grandparents and has done since the summer. I've known him for about 3 years.
Before Christmas I thought I was in love with another guy, despite having a boyfriend of 2 years. However I've come to realise that this guy is a womaniser as well as abusing drugs and alcohol, smoking, having ADHD and bi-polar disorder. The latter two didn't bother me, nor did the rest to begin with. I pitied him - one of his brothers and one of his sisters died, as did his best friend and some other people, so naturally, I felt sorry for him. He had me up on msn until 3am on school nights threatening to kill himself. I didn't think he actually would, but I couldn't take the chance. So eventually I found the courage to tell him that it's over, and that I'm staying with my boyfriend. He already had another girlfriend, so I didn't reckon he'd be that bothered. But he's decided that he will tell everyone what's happened between us at whatever cost. He came round last week, but I'd already warned my family not to let him in or anything. So he left us alone. But he txt me, threatening to throw a brick through my boyfriend's bedroom window. So I got my number changed, and deleted my Bebo. The day before yesterday, however, he was back again. He rang the doorbell so I answered it, not realising it was him. I asked him politely to go away and shut the door. Then he rang it again, so I opened the door and told him to get lost. I was in the house on my own, so I shut the door and locked it and drew the curtains. But he still wouldn't go away. I was scared and upset, so I phoned my brother (who is 15) and asked him to come home from his friend's house (4 doors along). I just meant for him to come and sit with me until he went away, so I wasn't on my own. I heard shouting outside shortly after, and my brother had him pinned up against the wall and was yelling at him to leave me alone. The guy was saying all sorts about me, untrue, it was so degrading. Luckily my mum arrived home and told the guy to get lost and my brother to leave him alone. I told her about how he'd been making stuff up, and how I'd had to change my number, and how he'd come and wouldn't go away and that's why he was pinned against the wall. My dad wanted to phone the police when he heard, and I only just managed to stop him. But if he appears again, he will phone the police. I'm so scared. I've lost all appetite, I've lost a lot of weight over the last month, I can't sleep properly and I worry constantly and get really scared every time the doorbell goes. I've just checked my emails and I have one from the other guy. It says: "your little brother...he has no idea who he pinned against the wall does he? haha this is gonna be fun". I'm so scared that he's going to hurt my brother, my boyfriend or my dog, who means the world to me. Or me. Also, he's friendly with/part of ccs or csf or whatever the group of hooligans in edinburgh is called - they basically go around fighting for no reason. What if he brings them down here? What should I do? What can I do? Is there any way I can make him stay away from me and my family through legal action? If so, what would it be? |

You can seek a protective order or other court order.
If you really have fear the police will help direct you to get such an order. |
