Car Accident (driving a car without owner's knowledge)

My friend was drving another friends car and gotten into an accident. the car that was used didnt have insurance and now the victims from the other vehicles are trying to sue. My friend who was driving the car didnt have a valid license and the car wasnt under her name. but she wants to take over all financial responsibilities for the damages. the tickets that were issued were all dismissed because the person who got the tickets were able to prove that they werent driving and that someone used their name. so now the people who are sueing is going after the owner of the vehicle. the car wasnt suppose to be operate as it was posted for sale on the side of the road and they drove the car without his knowledge. the lawyers of the victims are talking about suspending the license of the owner of the car. its a difficult situation but what can be done.
