Default Canadian Citizen extradited from US

I am a Canadian Citizen, from Vancouver. In Dec of 2005 I was charged with possession of Marijuana (under 40grams) in Whatcom County, US. Under the terms of my plea, I am never allowed to return to the United States.

However, I would like to apply for a pardon. I have heard that after 5 years, I can apply for a pardon from the US to allow me to enter the United States for work/school purposes. I will be working for a firm which requires me to travel into the US for work.

Since my arrest I have completed my Bachelor's Degree at a respectable University and have not been in any trouble since.

WHat are the chances that my pardon will be permitted? What steps should I take from here?

Thanks!

Your general premise is correct that you may apply to be pardoned after five years from the date of completion of prison, parole, probations etc. Meaning that the fives years starts after completion of all sentences from the court. Also I am assuming this is a charge recieved from a local court, not federal therefor state law may vary slightly. Beware of lawyers just after your money, your not after a pardon, but rather an expungement. A pardon is given by a governor or the president. An expungement is the criminal conviction essentially being erased from your criminal record. If you have only one conviction this is very posible, multiple convictions make epungement nearly immposible.

Ask lots of questions and shop around for a reputable lawyer.
