Confused Assault in Greece

Hey all

I'm a student, and while studying abroad in Greece, an incident occurred which led to my being charged with assault. I was allowed to return to America, and by giving my lawyer power of attorney, I wasn't required to return for my trial. I have apparently been given 3 years probation in Greece. I am okay with this, as I am not in Greece, so this essentially doesn't affect my life, my lawyer on the other hand really wants to seek an appeal. Is there any reason I should seek an appeal? Will being on probation in another county hurt me at home somehow?

Please respond soon, I need to appeal within 9 days to appeal.

Thanks
Chris

To give you probation you were convicted of the crime or a lesser charge is that correct? Also, he may want to appeal to keep this out of your criminal file. My only question, and I'm going to research this, is whether or not your conviction in Greece would appear on your US criminal report.

If it does not go on your US report, then I could care less if it were me. Seems there may be more to it if hes wanting to appeal. Unless he's just money hungry.....
