We just moved into our place less than a month ago, the last 2 nights someone has turned the switch off outside our apartment to our power. I have made 2 police reports 2 nights in a row regarding the tampering for it being on record for our apartment complex. Tonight, we got a 2 for 1 and got to add my husband getting robbed by gunpoint coming into the complex too.
Is it a felony or misdemeanor for the person that is turning off our power? (We live in GA) Am I allowed to make a citizens arrest and detain them if possible until the police come if I catch them in the act again? If so, am I allowed to detain them holding my gun on them so they don't run away? The neighbor had the same problem before and it hasn't happened to her in a while she said. Just found this out tonight. We really didn't have much time to talk about it since my husband ran up to the apartment saying he got robbed and we had to deal with that. Hubby saw a shadow of someone last night before it went off, neighbor lady's 7 year old saw a person she can't describe tonight going around the building. Neighbor lady told me she thinks it was kids in the neighborhood. I have a medically challenged child, he has only been home a week from major surgery and I am concerned for our safety since we are home alone most of the time. When I say "kids in the neighborhood", it is more like "thugs", wannabe gangsters, etc. Since they are tampering with our actual apartment utilities, and there are previous incidents regarding this type thing to my next door neighbor, do we have grounds to legally break our lease? |
