Default Petty Theft Case

Last Sunday night I was caught for a petty theft case at Kohl's.It was a 14$ worth Earrings which I was trying and had it put in my hand bug with an intention of billing it.I went roaming around the shop. I then just left the shop forgetting that the earring which was lying in my hand bag..It was completely unintentional. The security officer caught me and took me to a seperate room.Even after requesting her so many times she called upon the Cops and I was arrested. They have charged a M PC 484/488.I got released after a bail amount of 1000$ and Now I have the court date on Nov19th

I am here in California for a Business trip and I have to return back to my country on Oct24th.I am totally confused now..
What is that I have to do now to get away from this?

Can I get past this with a Public Defender or should I hire a lawyer? Looks like the attorney fees are very costlier here..

I am ready to pay the fine amount ..Will there be any other charges against me.. Can I request Kohl's to withdraw the case??

Please advice me on this..

Contact the Clerk of courts. Advise them of your situation. If your willing to admit guilt, a small fine and probation may be impossed. Or Kolhs will accept payment, OR, dismiss the charge asking you never to return to their store.
