Exclamation need advice on statuatory rape case

about a year ago i think (before i met him) my boyfriend was dating a girl that was 15.. he is now 23 so he was 21 when it happened i think..
according to him the girl lied about her age to him when they first met, but when the girls parents found out they were dating or that she was having sex they went to the police and filed a complaint.
he got put onto probation and was supposed to be checking in once a week, but due to working 6pm-6am on weekdays, he was unable to get there.
he had a court date, went to it and had a continuance to get paperwork filled out and evaluations taken care of, and was supposed to go back to court 2 weeks later and missed that court date.
a couple weeks ago he was helping the police catch some kids that were part of a robbery/hit and run because one of the kids ran past our apt. and my boyfriend saw/yelled at the kid. the cops took down my boyfriends name and came back about an hour later arresting my boyfriend on a warrant that he to my knowledge wasn't aware of. i bailed him out of jail and he was given another court date in a couple weeks, and he doesn't want to go to it because he "knows" they will lock him up and not give him another chance to get things straightened out. he doesn't want to lose his job, and thinks by not going to the court date and just "lying low" he will stay out of jail.
he doesn't want to listen to me that if he actually got a lawyer that he could have a better chance of his probation being re-instated and not going to jail then if he goes in still representing himself, or just doesn't go at all.
if anyone has any advice that i can say is coming from someone who knows what they're talking about or knows what i can do to make him understand that if he misses his court date things will be ALOT worse off for him.
thx.

He Must get a lawyer--don't try to negotiate this alone.

And never a miss a court date and never fail to check in and follow probation rules. He may get one chance now to try again.
