Default threats to attack

brother in law has made threats to attack me, can I get a RO

You can file a restraining order against him through your local police and/or the local court. Any reasonable fear is grounds to do so. Even the attempt to get an order, or threat to do so, will likely cause him to think about how he is acting etc.
