Hello, my question regards certain payoffs to local police in my area in exchange for getting a certain service from these officers. Basically the police in this area are accepting money from a local towing company to have them send 911 tow calls their way and in return the officer recieves $20.00 USD as payment off the record, to go to them rather than other tow companies in the area. The reason for my concern is my uncle, who is in that buisness himself has stopped recieving 911 tow calls and his buisness is now hurting, as I believe others in that profession are as well because of these payoffs. My question is am I right in my belief that this is in fact a criminal case of bribery or is this kind of payoff to police legal? Thank you for your time, I look forward to any responses you have.

[the officer recieves $20.00 USD as payment off the record]
That is not legal; report that to the mayor and the police chief and ask for his opinion. |

Report to your State's Attorney General. Local authorities probably have been turning a blind eye to this for years.
