Voluntary restitution protection against larceny charges?
My friend stole $500 from his Virginia employer. He was caught and fired. He quickly made voluntary restitution of the full amount. They are currently continuing their investigation, presumably to determine if it was a one time thing or ongoing. Can they still press criminal charges or pursue further civil penalties now that he has made full restitution? Or is he 'safe' from further action?

They certainly can.
The crime still occurred. |
